SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH, – 9:00 a.m. - INJURY PREVENTION/STRETCHING CLINIC with Dr. Keith Terro, Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. Keith does a great job covering the most common running injuries, and addressing ways to prevent and treat these issues. I have personally seen Keith for a few years now, and he has always kept me up and running. This is a good chance to have all of your specific questions answered – about IT band issues, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, etc. Free and open to everyone! Come in your running clothes so you can participate in the stretches and drills.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 29TH – LEAP DAY GROUP RUN/COSTUME CONTEST – Oh yeah, we couldn’t let this one go without planning something!! This is the date of our normal Wednesday evening Bendel run, but we will be changing the venue a bit (to one that serves adult beverages). And, I have it from a good source (me) that there will be a certain GR employee (that narrows it down considerably) who has agreed to do the run in costume J. Details to follow.
THURSDAY, MARCH 1ST – NUTRITION CLINIC WITH RUSTY BEX - 6:00 p.m.– Rusty really knows his stuff when it comes to sports nutrition/recovery. Come armed with any questions you may have. This is information that every runner can use, whether you have run many marathons, or are getting started with Couch to 5k. As always, its open to everyone, and there is never a charge.

The 1st Annual Acadiana Runners Ball is scheduled for Saturday, March 31st at 5PM at the Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in Opelousas. In continued tradition of the Victory for Veterans 5K, runners will be greeted at the finish line with a link of boudin; however, this year they will cross that finish line inside the Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Convention Center directly in front of the stage where Horace Trahan will be playing his famous zydeco hits.LIVE! Come join the running community of Acadiana as we race and celebrate together. Horace Trahan will take the stage at 5PM when the starting gun is fired, and remain on stage until 8PM. The event welcomes runners and spectators of all ages. Join us for the 2nd annual Victory for Veterans 5K with the new addition of the Acadiana Runners Ball!!! 100% of the proceeds from this year’s event (and every year for that matter) benefit veterans and their families.
