According to Wikipedia (so it must be true):
Although most years of the modern calendar have 365 days, a complete revolution around the sun takes approximately 365 days and 6 hours. Every four years, during which an extra 24 hours have accumulated, one extra day is added to keep the count coordinated with the sun's apparent position.
That ends the educational portion of this post.  Now for the fun part.  Join us for our LEAP DAY FUN RUN tomorrow (Wednesday 2/29) at 6:00 p.m.  We will start at the Tap Room in River Ranch, run the RR 5k route, then head back to Tap Room for some adult beverages and great company.  This is open to everyone (assuming you are old enough to go to the Tap Room).  This is a great way to get to visit with old friends and make new ones!!  The only cost to you is determined by your own thirst.

BONUS:  You get to see Aaron, our star employee, doing his best Kermit impersonation (get it - LEAP day!!).

Hope to see you all there!

One of the many reasons we are proud to carry the Brooks line

Not only does Brooks care about its customers and employees, it cares about preserving our environment too.  Great information in this video, delivered with the Brooks sense of humor.  Entertaining and educational - who would have thought?

Finally, an affordable and high quality alternative.

It's a GREAT time to be a runner in Acadiana!!

Lots of fun stuff coming up folks!

Tomorrow - Wed., February 15th - GROUP RUN in Bendel Subdivision - 6:15 p.m.  This can be a moderately hilly training run, or a hill workout depending on what kind of mood you are in.  Minimum distance is 1.7 miles (1loop), and goes up from there.  This is a great run for all speeds.  Since it is a loop course, and people start in different directions, you are constantly seeing other runners on the roads out there.

Saturday, February 12th - Al Comeaux  10 Miler - Milton.  This is an Acadiana running tradition.  Beautiful country roads followed by food, drinks and great company.

Wednesday, February 22nd - 6:00 p.m. GROUP RUN - Meeting at the Fresh Market parking lot.  Distances are 4.5 miles or 6.2 miles, but you can shorten this by turning around at any point.

Saturday, February 25th - 9:00 a.m. - at Geaux Run - Stretching and Injury Prevention Clinic with Dr. Keith Terro.  Keith has kept me up and running through 8 ultra marathons now.  He knows what he is talking about - come and see for yourself!  As always, our clinics are free and open to everyone.

Wednesday, February 29th - LEAP DAY GROUP RUN!!  This will be in the evening, in the place of our Bendel run.  Details to follow,  but its going to be a fun one!!

Message me at geauxrun@gmail.com with any questions.

Happy Running!

Keynote Speaker:
Mrs. Myrna Miller
“You and the Cure”
Everything you can do for yourself to help prevent disease
Having a family history of cancer and being diagnosed with breast cancer back in February 2005, Myrna is living proof what nutrition and lifestyle can do for the body!  After chemotherapy, radiation, and a double mastectomy, Myrna's body was very broken down, but an answer to prayers came in the form of a phone call from a doctor who shared something that would change Myrna's health picture and path to wellness.  Myrna is now on a health mission to share what has given her life back, the simplicity of whole food nutrition, and how small changes can make a huge difference for adults AND children of all ages!  Dr. John Rainey, Myrna's oncologist less than 2 wees ago had this to say' "Myrna, as far as I'm concerned, you are cured but also your blood levels are better than we've ever seen!"  Keep in mind years ago Myrna was told that she would never be able to be "fully" in remission.

Join us Friday for lunch to hear Myrna's amazing story and how you can help others to share the message of wellness and prevention to those you love and care about!
