Think you're tough?
"I realized that I have no desire to do something at which I knew I couldn’t fail. How mundane! I want to risk failure. What’s the worst that could happen? I fail to succeed?” Dr. Lisa Bliss
This morning, Lisa became the first woman ever (and only the second person in history) to cross Death Valley solo, unsupported and self-contained—meaning she ran alone, without outside help of any kind, carrying all her food water and supplies in a 230-lb cart custom designed for her.
This morning, Lisa became the first woman ever (and only the second person in history) to cross Death Valley solo, unsupported and self-contained—meaning she ran alone, without outside help of any kind, carrying all her food water and supplies in a 230-lb cart custom designed for her.
The journey from the Badwater Basin to the summit of Mt. Whitney will take her from the lowest point in the contiguous U.S. to the highest—an altitude change of more than 14,000 feet. Lisa will cross more than 135 miles of asphalt followed by an 11-mile climb to the summit of the mountain for a total of 146 miles in blistering desert temperatures up to 130 degrees.

The next morning we will do a combination of posture, barefoot, and running drills (I’ll bring the demos as well) for about 30 minutes and usually we will do a short group run after that. And any other questions you may have. I'll keep you posted on the date and time!

Sunday Morning Group Run
Just in case you are wondering about the weather and the run tomorrow,
I checked the forecast, and it's only 20% chance of rain at 6 am.
(Nevermind the 90% humidity)
The general rule for these runs is that the only time they will be cancelled
would be due to lightning.
If its raining, we're running.

Do people open the window when you take your shoes off?
After hearing enough of you complain about the funk in your shoes, here's a solution:
First application, spray 2 or 3 times in shoes, depending on strength of odor.
After that, spray into shoes 2 or 3 times per week.
Safe to use with our without socks.
And please, don't spray it into your eyes, that would be a bad idea.

For those of you considering an ultramarathon...
A few years ago, when I started thinking about running a 50 miler, a friend (Mark Delcambre) recommended that I read some guys race report on http://www.lafayettefitness.org/ on his first 50 miler in Texas. After reading it, I was more motivated than ever to tackle the distance, especially knowing that there were other fools in the area who had done it. In this case, that fool was Smitty - we soon became friends, running buddies, and now, in some strange twist of fate, I guess you can add business partners to the mix. Here's the link to his story: http://www.lafayettefitness.org/Commentary/2007_smittys_ultra.htm.
Don't miss Smitty's TRAIL CLINIC - Tuesday, July 26th at 6:30 p.m. at the store (906 Harding St). Open to everyone, and there's never a charge. Great info for anyone who wants to go any distance on the trails.
